Restructuring and Distressed Investing (RxDI) at IU
What We Do
The Restructuring & Distressed Investing Club (RxDI) at Indiana University provides students with fundamental education and preparation for the fields of distressed investing, advisory restructuring, and bankruptcy law through our curriculum, mentorship, case competitions, and our student-led newsletter: The Cramdown.
Our goal is to provide opportunities for members to grow, develop, and evolve into strong business leaders. We look to equip our members with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the industry, no matter their background or prior experience level.

Mentorship

Mentorship plays a crucial role in RxDI's mission to foster the development of our members. From resume workshops to networking guidance and internship preparation, we strive to assist our members in all aspects of their professional growth. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where members can learn, network, and develop the skills necessary to achieve their career goals.

Freshman Intensive Program

RxDI offers a unique Freshman Intensive Mentorship Program designed to enhance the educational development of highly committed first-year students. During the fall semester, freshmen attend lectures, participate in case competitions, and meet the leaders of the club. In the spring, students who demonstrate strong engagement, attendance, and interest are paired in small groups with our upperclassmen mentors.

In the program, mentees will have the opportunity to participate in exclusive lectures, workshops, and professional development sessions, while forming close-knit relationships with upperclassmen who have successfully secured an internship or full-time offer in the restructuring space.

Case Competitions
RxDI hosts two case competitions during the fall semester: one geared towards freshmen and another towards sophomores. An additional third competition takes place in the spring semester, specifically geared toward freshmen.

In RxDI case competitions, members are paired with 3-4 other teammates at random and given a prompt detailing a company in distress. After 1-2 weeks of analyzing financials, credit documents, and business models, the teams are tasked with devising a strategy to alleviate the company's distress, in which they build their own financial models, pitch decks, and supporting analyses to defend their thesis.
